Only a king could pass through the gate. Other people such as lieges should use another smaller gate. Donhwamun is divided into 5 areas by 4 columns. It .. 더보기 02 Guemcheongyo Geumcheongyo is a bridge located on the way from Donhwamun to Jinseonmun. The name of it means bridge on ‘Geumcheon(gyo means bridge)’. There are many symbol to block ‘bad luck’ at a bridge. The size of it is 13m*12.5m(length*width). It is larger than normal stone bridge because it was need to be matched with King’s parade width. This jeongjeon was originally constructed as a secondary gung when Joseon dynasty estabilished (Gyeongbokgung was a main gung). But time goes by, many Kings used Changdeokgung as a main gung so many anniversaries were taken place here at Injeongjeon. A building was originally called ‘Jogyecheong’ means to report to a King every morning. Usually Pyunjeon is located behind of Jeongjeon, but Seonjeongjeon is located next to Injeongjeon for harmony with nature instead of destroying it. It was established at 1405 but burned several times. Last time was 1920(in Japanese colonial period), Korean government requested to rebuild the building but Japan didn’t approve it.
